Friends

We had the chance to visit with the Humphrey's (John, Diane, Kaitlyn and Madison) while in Pennsylvania this past week. Here are some pictures from their visit back in August and a recent picture of the girls. Oh, how kids change in the blink of an eye.

Emily Favorite Toy

Emily got a ton of things for Christmas this year. Like all children she has her favorites. This is one of them. She likes to wiggle her hips to the music, as well as make the animals pop up. She even roars when the lion pops up. After she open this one we actually had a hard time trying to get her to unwrap the rest of her gifts. She kept walking back over to the box that this one was in and playing with it through the open part of the box. The part that is used to the "try me here". The video is a little long but it was too cute to cut anything from it. It is so fun to watch children having a good time. This toy has several different things on it and Emily goes from one thing to the next.

Christmas Surprise

To say that my mother is a huge “The Christmas Story” movie freak would be putting it lightly. While growing up, everyone living in the house would have to put up with it playing on the TV all December long. After recently reading an article in the December issue of Guide Post my Dad decided to get my mom something from movie. It is the famous Leg Lamp from the movie. I think she liked it but you can be the judge of that!




We also got her a trip to Hawaii, but all we got was a "Wow, Awesome".

16 months old - Dec. 16

Although this was no easy task since Emily didn't seem to be feeling well, we were able to take her monthly picture with some semblance of a smile. Check out the very last picture for her Grinch-like look.

Emily has really enjoyed things that come with the Christmas season, plastic ornaments, jingle bells and especially beads. Thankfully she's not interested in touching the Christmas tree.

She is gaining a little more confidence these days in walking by herself and definitely let's you know when she is not interested in something. We also noticed we have a little dancer on our hands. Pretty much every time she hears music she sways her bottom side-to-side. She can say shoe, bye and wa-wa (water) and can also play the "gimme 5" game.

Rainbow Bright Look-A-Like

Emily was playing with one of her favorite toys these days and also had a great pig tail hair day which was done by her hair dresser Aunt Randa so I had to take some pictures. I told her to give the frog a kiss just to see what she'd do, and was a little surprised when she actually did it.

Goosebumps

This is a great video. It shows how Jesus is always there for you and will always help you out of the hardest situations that the world can throw at you! I have watched it a dozen times or more and it still gives me goosebumps.

Fall Fun

A couple of weeks ago we had a Sunday School class fellowship over at our friends the Canode's and our friend Shelli took these pictures. Emily loved playing in the leaves.

15 months old - Nov. 16

This month has been a lot of fun watching our little blue eyes. It is somewhat nice that she wears her emotions on her sleeve like her Mother because it's pretty easy to know what she's feeling. We've all seen her furrowed brow look which cracks me up. Some think that she's being mean, but it really means "I'm confused at the current situation". In the picture below, Charlie was standing outside our big kitchen window and playing peek-a-boo with Emily trying to get her to smile at my request. The perplexed look came first and then of course she gave us a smile.

Emily took her first 2 steps totally by herself 3 weeks ago and has gained more confidence every day. She is mimicking our words more and more. She says "ca" for cat, "da" for Daddy, "Jaa" for Jack and recently started pointing to her ear and nose when you ask where they are. Her 3 favorite things right now are my keys, the tv remote and any working cell phone which of course we keep in the locked position. I'd say her favorite foods right now are fruit cups in cherry syrup and tomatoes.

Sweet

I hear from Randa that there are times when Jack will not allow Emily to play with his toys and then there's moments like these where he just loves to love on her.

14 months old - Oct. 16

Emily is definitely expressing more of her own personality these days and it is neat to watch. She has discovered the stairs so we had to teach her the proper way to descend on the tummy. She's still a little skittish about walking, but she stood all by herself without even realizing it one day.

I believe we can say her first real word was door. Charlie was watching Emily one afternoon and taught her the word door while playing with her Noah's Ark toy. Later while he was in the office he heard Emily in the bathroom across the hall saying "dor" each time she opened and closed the cabinet doors. What Charlie realized later was that every time Emily opened the door and said "dor", she was pulling out a towel or wash cloth and pitching it on the floor. She can also now say "uh oh", "no, no", "cheerio" and on the verge of saying "thank you".

First Pigtails - Oct. 9, 2007

The other day Randa tested the waters to see if Emily would let her put her hair in pigtails and she was successful. By the end of the day it was not a good photo op so she put it up again later in the week and we had to capture it on film. Here's the kids with Aunt Neva ("Mefa" as Jack would call her)

To PA for PumpkinFest

This past weekend was Emily's 2nd annual PumpkinFest in Confluence, PA. I didn't take any pictures during the festival, but I did get some shots with Emily with family. Here she is with Aunt Dawn and Uncle Wally who is now dubbed "Uncle Ice Cream" because when we went to PA in May he was giving Emily part of a beloved DQ Dilly Bar.


Emily had just woken up from a nap, that's why she looks like she's zoning while sitting on Gommy's lap.

They learn by seeing

It is so funny to watch Emily mimic the things she sees on a daily basis. Something she sees daily is Charlie or I on our cell phones so consequently when she found something that she thought would work as a phone she picked it right up and put it to her ear and it even sounded like she said "hewo". She even has the hand motion like she's explaining something.

A trip to Innis Woods

A couple of weeks ago we all went to Innis Woods to see the bug display at the suggestion of our friends Meredith and Brian Snyder. Fun was had by all despite the look on Emily's face in the last picture.

Pigeon Roost Farm

If you are looking for a fun place to take your children, Pigeon Roost Farm is the place to go. They have everything imaginable; from donkey rides and feeding goats to slides and trains and of course picking out pumpkins. We had the chance to go today with Aunt Randa, Jack, Mommaw and Aunt Clara.
